Privacy Policy

Last updated: April 2026

Portano ("we", "us", "our") is a call and message screening application. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use the Portano mobile application and related services.

Information We Collect

When you use Portano, we collect the following information:

How We Use Your Information

We use your information solely to operate the Portano screening service: forwarding approved calls to your phone, blocking denied callers, sending you notifications about new requests, and providing usage statistics within the app.

Data Storage and Security

Your data is encrypted in transit using HTTPS. Passwords are hashed using scrypt with a random salt, and authentication uses signed JWT tokens. We do not sell, share, or transfer your data to third parties, except as necessary to operate the service (e.g., Twilio for call routing, Expo for push notifications).

Third-Party Services

Portano integrates with the following third-party services to function:

Data Retention

Your data is retained for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, all associated data (contacts, inbox items, voicemail recordings, and settings) will be permanently removed.

Your Rights

You can request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data at any time by contacting us. You can also delete your account through the app settings.

Children's Privacy

Portano is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes through the app or by email.
